The Department of Senior Services offers a wide array of services to help seniors, their caregivers and families. Unfortunately, all services may not be available immediately upon request.


Older Americans Act Title III Programs
This is a federally funded programs for persons 60 years of age or over. However, the most needy of our community will be given priority. There is no fee for these services, but all contributions are very much appreciated. Services Provided Include:

—Home Delivered Meals
—Transportation
—Homemaker Service
—Referral
—Nutrition Education
—Outreach
—Health Promotion
—Respite Care
—Caregiver's Support Group

Meetings for the Caregiver's Support Group are held the 2^nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 at The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind, Inc., 6492 California St., Brooksville, FL and held the 4^th Thursday of the month at Spring Oaks, 7251 Grove Rd., Brooksville, FL. Call Linda at (352) 796-1425 for more information

Community Care for the Elderly
This state funded program provides a community-based service which offers an alternative to nursing home or institutional care.

To qualify for the various services, the client must be 60 years of age or over and be functionally impaired.

Fees are assessed on a sliding-scale basis, dependent on individual income and current expenses. In many cases, no fee is assessed. However, contributions are always welcomed.

—Alzheimer's Disease Initiative:
Assistance with Respite Care.
—Home Care for the Elderly:
Monthly financial assistance to caregiver.
—Emergency Energy Assistance:
Assistance with energy/utility crisis.

Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP):
Volunteer opportunities for retired individuals and seniors throughout Hernando, Lake, and Sumter counties at over 150 volunteer stations.
